There are many more benefits of SEA SOIL. The more you use SEA SOIL, the more ways you'll find to incorporate it in all you're growing: from seed blends to custom potting mixes, compost teas and lawn applications.

SEA SOIL works great on its own but most people's gardens need a good organic soil amender, conditioner or fertilizer to blend in with their existing soil and this where SEA SOIL performs the best. SEA SOIL is also cost-effective. It's like getting five growing products in one.

How is SEA SOIL Made?

SEA SOIL is made at Beaver Cove near Port McNeill, BC, by composting fish by-product (actual fish waste from head, tails and guts) and forest fines (bark and the organics of logs from dry land sorts).

Forest Fines are the bark that is collected and then screened. The fish and bark organics are composted for two years. At the end of the two years of composting it is screened again to half inch size and then bagged. We have a special way of composting for the first thirty days after that our soil is composted in windrows.

Organic Materials Review Institute

The Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) is a national nonprofit organization that determines which input products are allowed for use in organic production and processing. OMRI Listed (approved) products may be used on operations that are certified organic under the USDA National Organic Program.

OMRI's core service is the Review Program. OMRI accepts applications for products intended to be used in organic production or processing to determine whether are in fact allowed under the National Organic Program. Some typical examples of the types of OMRI reviews are fertilizers for organic farming and feed supplements for organic animal production.

The OMRI Listed Seal

After staff review, applications are submitted to the Review Panel. When the Review Panel votes to accept an application, the product becomes OMRI Listed. This means that the company is permitted to say 'OMRI Listed' on the product's label and any promotional literature. OMRI Listed products are suitable for use in organic production or food processing. Also, OMRI Listed are included on the OMRI Products List.

Product reviews are conducted as a third-party review of products. This means that OMRI is a disinterested party that makes recommendations to the organic operator and certifier.
